Greater Rochester Enterprise (GRE) is an economic development organization committed to attracting new capital investments and creating regional wealth and new jobs throughout the Greater Rochester, NY region.
Rochester, NY: Mark S. Peterson, president and chief executive officer of Greater Rochester Enterprise (GRE), has accepted a new position as the president and chief executive officer of Intersect Illinois, a start-up, not-for-profit, that serves as the lead business recruitment and marketing organization for the State of Illinois. Mark will leave GRE, the Greater Rochester, NY region’s preeminent economic development organization, on June 11 after serving for twelve years, eight of those years as its leader. Under Mark’s direction, the GRE team has attracted many businesses to our nine-county region, including Barilla America, Brand Networks, and Pride Pak and helped hundreds of local companies access the right resources to expand in our community.
Matt Hurlbutt, GRE’s executive vice president and chief operating officer, will assume leadership responsibility for the organization to ensure a seamless transition. “Matt Hurlbutt has been effectively leading GRE’s business development team for the past eight years,” said Dr. Anne Kress, Greater Rochester Enterprise Board Chair. “He is well-suited to serve as GRE’s interim president & CEO while we assess the best strategy for the organization’s long-term growth.”
