The International Business Council (IBC), an affiliate of Greater Rochester Enterprise, will hold the 2013 IBC Upstate N.Y. Trade Conference & Expo at 7:30 a.m. on Thursday, June 20, at RIT. This is the only conference of its kind in the region, offering area business leaders access to experts on building effective distribution channels, emerging markets, EX-IM Bank financing, Foreign-Trade Zones, international employment, Incoterms, Export compliance reform and more. Keynote presentations include:
- "Know when to hold 'em, know when to fold 'em" with Rob Sands. The Constellation Brands CEO will discuss his company's strategic bets on international markets; and the need to take smart, strategic risks.
- An overview of the global economy and GDP breakdown by region with Stephen Leach, managing director at Citibank, foreign exchange economist. Leach's presentation will focus on markets of interest, including Latin America, Europe and Asia.
- A panel discussion on "Increasing Revenues through Globalization" with Michael Nuccitelli, President & CEO, Parlec, and Owner, Century Mold; Dick Rosenbloom, CEO, Ambrell, An Ameritherm Company; and Michael Zimmer, President, US Global Document Outsourcing, Xerox Corporation.
"On a per capita basis, the Rochester Region is among the top 25 major metro exporting regions in the U.S." said Leah George, Greater Rochester Enterprise, Managing Director, International Trade. "We hope sharing expert advice at conferences like this helps even more companies expand their business beyond U.S. borders."
Participants will have the opportunity to attend breakout sessions focused on three tracks — early exporters, experienced exporters and current trade issues. A complete agenda for the daylong trade conference can be found here.
"After this conference, small and medium enterprises will reaffirm that American markets are finite and there is a big buying world out there," conference presenter Dulce Zahniser of Towpath Group International said. "About 95 percent of the available customers are outside of the United States' borders. SMEs will be introduced to the tools that can help them grab these market opportunities."
