Greater Rochester Enterprise (GRE), an economic development organization dedicated to job creation in the Rochester Region, is pleased to announce that it has won two awards from the International Economic Development Council (IEDC): the Economic Development General Purpose Promotion Award for its 2005 fuel cell direct marketing campaign and a Paid Publication Advertising Campaign Honorable Mention for its 2005 print advertising campaign.
"Economic development pursuits have always played an invaluable role in strengthening the nation's economy one locality at a time, and as our country faces challenges ranging from an elevated national debt to a declining yet still significant unemployment rate, these efforts take on an even greater importance," said Steven J. Budd, IEDC chairman. "These awards honor pace-setting organizations in economic development, an excellent example of which is GRE."
"It is a great honor to have GRE's marketing campaign recognized for the second time this year," said Michael A. Finney, president and CEO of Greater Rochester Enterprise, who is scheduled to accept the awards Tuesday morning at the IEDC annual conference in Chicago."These awards are another excellent example of all that Rochester has to offer to the high-tech business world."
GRE was honored with the Economic Development General Purpose Promotion Award for its Fuel Cell Direct Marketing Campaign. Competing with communities with a population of more than 200,000, GRE's campaign was a creative dimensional effort that invited the recipient to a one-on-one meeting to learn more about Rochester's alternative-energy strengths. The campaign had a 29 percent response rate and has yielded many leads that GRE continues to pursue.
The honorable mention for Paid Publication Advertising Campaign was awarded for GRE's multi-pronged print advertising campaign, which highlighted the optics, biotechnology, and fuel-cell strengths in the Rochester Region. Citing local innovations such as the production of General Motors' fuel-cell power module, GRE's campaign created compelling arguments for business leaders to consider Rochester for future business expansion.
These awards from the IEDC cap off a successful year for the GRE marketing team.In June, GRE announced the receipt of two awards from the New York State Economic Development Council: a Best of Class Award for its print advertising campaign, and a Certificate of Excellence Award for its new website, www.RochesterBiz.com.
