Mission Israel Trip Report:
The mission to Israel was a busy, productive and rewarding experience. The following summarizes our key activities and the opportunities that have been identified.
The trip was organized by SIT (Systematic Inventive Thinking), our Israeli partners. 17 people participated in the delegation which was organized into four focused sectors: Elected Officials/Government, Medical Sector, Optics and Imaging Sector, Entrepreneur Sector and a photo journalist from Time Warner that documented the entire week's activities.
Meet with companies that are considering a U.S. operation and inspire them to consider Rochester as a potential site for future growth. Build relationships with decision makers and key influencers that can direct major projects towards Rochester in the future.
Elected officials met with high ranked government officials in Israel including Deputy Prime Minister Ehud Olmert, Minister of Trade Communications, Shraga Brosh, CEO and Chairman of the Export Institute, mayors of several major cities. They also met with Homeland Security companies and attended the Prime Minister dinner for the top 300 world leaders as well as the Prime Minister Conference.
The Medical Sector participated in the BIO conferences where both Kodak and B&L presented the key note addresses. They met with more than 50 BIO and medical device companies.
The Optics and Imaging and Entrepreneur Sectors participated in a full-day conference sponsored by SIT and GRE. Over 60 companies and major VC's attended.
The entire delegation had the opportunity to visit Hadassah Hospital (Hadassit Technology Center), and Sheba Medical Center, Weizmann Institute (Yeda Technology Transfer Center and Technion (Technology and the Transfer Center).
