Public schools in the Greater Rochester, N.Y., Region were recently ranked sixth among metros with populations greater than one million by Expansion Management magazine, a widely used resource by executives when analyzing prospective facility locations.
In its 16th annual survey, the magazine evaluated 2,800 school districts to identify regions with the best overall public school systems.The ranking allows executives to compare the type of workforce they are likely to encounter in various areas throughout the country.
"Rankings such as this give the Greater Rochester, N.Y., Region a competitive advantage," said Dennis M. Mullen, president and CEO of Greater Rochester Enterprise, a regional economic development organization.
"This ranking further validates what those who live and do business in the Greater Rochester, N.Y., Region already know – the quality of our educational system is best in class," added Mullen."The area's high-quality secondary schools and world-class universities ensure that Rochester will continually have a highly skilled and innovative workforce."
Earlier this year, Newsweek also recognized the quality of Rochester area schools.That publication looked at individual school performance and ranked the top 1,300.The Greater Rochester, N.Y., Region placed 15 high schools on that list, all of which are in the top 5 percent in the nation.
"These national rankings help us raise awareness of our abundant educational assets and unparalleled workforce.This exposure will help us further diversify and develop our economy," said Mullen.
